Avon Tyres Return to Australia

Motoring enthusiasts around Australia will welcome the news that Avon Tyres are now available here again.

Exclusive Tyre Distributors, based in Brisbane, have been appointed the national importers and have just released a new range of ultra high performance tyres.

These tyres underwent final testing in Australia and other countries, and representatives of Exclusive Tyre Distributors travelled to Germany last month for the international release.

Avon say the range is targeted at the older age group of performance and luxury car drivers, and will deliver a new level of comfort not yet achieved in other brands.

Terry Smith, managing director of Exclusive Tyre Distributors, said Avon Tyres will continue to offer rare sizes of tyres, especially the metric fitments for thoroughbred and classic cars. Stock has arrived of some of these, such as the 390mm range and some Rolls Royce sizes. The Rolls Royce marque has used Avon Tyres since 1933 and continues this tradition.

"Avon have not slowed production of these tyres, although the Australian market may have thought this to be the case when the previous distributor's supply stopped.

We intend to carry stock of the hard-to-get sizes that were often air freighted here in the past, and because we warehouse stock in each State, access to Avon by the dealers will now be much easier."

Avon Racing, with a long tradition in international motor sport, is the exclusive tyre supplier for the Formula 3000 championship, and its products will continue to be handled in Australia by Gordon Leven Motor Sport Tyres.

An Australia-wide marketing campaign will be launched soon, with National Tyre Wholesalers distributing the range in New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania. Drivers in the other States will be able to access all Avon tyres through Exclusive Tyre Distributors.
